    What does the silicone and soap actually do in this process? I have never come across that idea before. They can not cool the drill bit, the drill will go through the stone just as fast if you don’t use it, but oils or lubricants are widely used when drilling in metal. Never heard it used on stone. So I would love to hear the cold hard scientific facts of why you use it. When it comes to glass or plastic container, you can use a piece of wood at the bottom to hold your stone against. It won’t rattle and you’ll avoid drilling a hole into the plastic. 😂 To newbies, it can actually be a good idea to drill not all the way through, and start from the other side so the two holes meet in the middle. By drilling through only one way you can get a blow out, meaning a part of the rock cracks and falls off around the hole as you reach the other side. If you hold the stone in your hand, a sign that it is about to go to hell, is when you see black particles come up from the hole. It means things are too hot and you are about to destroy the stone and your drill bit. That is why many like to have it submerged under water. You also avoid inhaling a lot of stone dust if you have it submerged. Stone dust can consist of some really terrible stuff that shortens your life, gives you severe lung diseases and gives you cancer. So protect your lungs. Also: ALWAYS use protective glasses unless you don’t mind becoming blind. Stone bits and pieces and diamond particles can come flying by, right into your eye. Protective glasses is so cheap. Eye surgery isn’t.

    Pickups can make a world of difference. My first guitar was a cheap Silvertone Strat copy. Years later I replaced the cheap electronics and put in some Tonerider Classic Blues and the guitar sounds fantastic. 20+ years later and the guitar still gets regular use along with my expensive Fenders.

    • @dennyps1
      @dennyps1 24 дні тому

      I completely agree 👍 many make the argument that there is some kind of magical properties to a maple neck that Fender uses verses a maple neck produced by another manufacturer or body wood that has some magical tones that you get from one wood or another. In acoustic guitars, that argument holds up, and I agree. With electric guitars, not so much. Like you, I have completely replaced the electronics with genuine Fender parts, and after years of playing this guitar, I wouldn't trade it. It looks great plays amazing and sounds terrific. What else do you need?

Took a lot of coats (airbrushed on) but it came out great. All her girlfriends at work we're going nutty over the bling. I'm still having fun exploring all the use's of Tru-Oil

      Sorry for your luck on the bad hardware, but honestly, it's an easy fix and well worth the time & effort to do. After reading, literally hundreds of positive reviews on this guitar over the years, my experience included, I would say, replace the pots and play it. Or just sell it and get your $ out of it. It's one of my personal favorite IYV guitars 🎸

    I put a Tex mex loaded pickguard in a squier classic vibe and was happy with the change. But I also changed to fender branded tremolo . It’s not as good as my American Strat but it closed the gap.If your on a budget like most of us try adjusting your pickup height you may find the tone your looking for for free, and who doesn’t like free 👍

    I bought this guitar it'll be here Monday. Haters gonna hate. But for 150 I'll take a chance. Besides I can do my own setups and even if I had to pay for it at 150 plus 100 for a setup. Good deal. Really good deal. This guitar is full thickness and 22 frets, rolled fingerbored the pickups sound fine to me just as good as any cheap guitar I've ever heard and better than most Imo. Plus a push pull split humbucker? Really? I don't care at all about the amp and you did the right thing by not using it. It's not going to do any guitar justice. If it tunes up nice and intonates I'll keep it. Got my fingers crossed.

    Sounds like some has PRS blindness. I have that exact model and i couldn't be happier. PRS is just a name. IYV makes OEM products for a lot of the big guys. Im sure PRS is one. Not to mention that virtually all guitars are made with CNCs that are made in china. PRS is no different. Check out PRS, most are made in china, Vietnam, Korea or Indonesia . Keep over paying for PRS, Gibson and Fender. All of them are rip offs. Just taking your money by putting their logo on stuff built by IYV, Censtar, or any number of Chinese manufacturers.

      Hi 👋 and thanks for watching. I can honestly say that after doing a few mods & a great setup to this guitar It's still in my top 5 favorite playing guitars. Is it good for a beginner? Sure, but keep in mind that almost any guitar you buy will need a good setup, maybe a nut change. It will definitely new strings. As to all the features it has, for a brand new guitar player, you simply won't need them for a while. But bang for your buck, it's a great buy. Your mileage may vary, that only you'll know after you own it

      @@dennyps1 would it be better if I purchased one from a guitar store? It would cost me more money, but the guitars they sell they make sure are set up properly before it walks out the door. It would run me about $150 more.

      @cweber9112 Okay, maybe in your store, that's the case, but certainly not all guitar/music stores do a complete setup on their sold or even display guitar's, in fact most don't even change the strings, they are just required to make it reasonably playable. If you've got a guitar & store that does good setups in mind, that's great. Considering that the Donner i received needed very little in the way of setup, it'soverall a great deal (I'm a pro so my wants and needs will be very different than what a new guitar player actually needs to get started). Most setups in my town Portland metro area run between $50 & $75 . So, assuming the guitar didn't need anything major, you'd be ahead in the $ department

      May I suggest that before you make that change that you join the fb group IYV guitar fans and ask your question there. You will get some direct drop-in replacement tuner options. As well as advice on how to get ur done

      @Poeticskulls then get out your measuring tools and measure 3 times everything, then buy once. Personally, the tuners on mine are rock solid, and I never had an issue with them. Good luck. You can do it

      That would have been my advice as well. With careful measurements, you don't run into disasters later. Good luck with your new pickups, I hope you find the sound you're looking for! Personally, I like the sound of the CNC wound pickups and I have no intentions of changing mine out.

    I bought my IYV IP350 and got using my Amazon gift card final cost w/tax 37.10, it's a fantastic guitar. I've always liked humbuckers but the one thing I want to change on my IYV are the pickups, there just to bland for my style. I saw some on Amazon that fit a Les Paul or 335 the bridge is 16.6K neck 7.8, Will they fit the IYV without having to mess with modifying the pick up opening?

    • @dennyps1
      @dennyps1 4 місяці тому

      Sure, there would be enough room for a humbucker in the bridge. Of course, you may need to customize the new pickguard holes. This has a 60's 12 screw hole design
